The Italian ministry of foreign affairs confirmed this week in a press release that the Administrative committee of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) has unanimously decided to proceed with the establishment of the Milan section of a central division of the UPC.

The Italian minister of foreign affairs commented: “This (…) confirms the central role played by Italy, Lombardy and Milan in the promotion and protection of innovation and intellectual property in Europe and worldwide”.

The release also confirmed that work is under way to make the Milan section fully operational within the 12 months envisaged by UPC provisions.
